About us

The Milverton Fair formally Milverton Street Fair. Is an annual community event that falls on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May. Unfortunately we had to take the hard decision to stop the street fair because of the ever rising costs of closing roads and the dwindling number of volunteers. We have worked hard this year to work with the Milverton Cricket Club to put on a new fair but will have all the same atmosphere and same traders. We hope you still come and support us.

The Milverton Fair will have over 100 stalls every year offers: arts and crafts, artist’s paintings, wooden toys, furniture and woodturning; antiques and collectables, vintage and bric-a-brac; nursery plants, herb plants, books, ceramics, candles, jewellery, gifts; soft furnishings, hand bags, sandals and knitwear; artisan breads, old fashioned sweets, jams and preserves and chocolatiers; delicious and 50’s evocative, traditional cream teas; all, together with a variety of hot foods from pizzas to crêpes, from venison to vegetarian and drinks from local ale to foreign juicy smoothies.

The day is kept buzzing with crazy street acts and live street music; all family friendly and inviting; with traditional Punch & Judy shows, professional face-painting, and outrageous inflatable activities such as the competitive “Last Man Standing”, the sound-to-light “Disco Dome” and the extraordinary “Carnival Helter-Skelter”.

The Milverton Fair is devised, promoted and organised by The “Milverton Trust”, a registered charity run by an elected body of Trustees and volunteer members drawn from the local community. It is, however, all made possible through the assiduous dedication and invaluable assistance of the volunteers.

It is the local organisations, societies and charities who profit each year from all this hard work.  Stallholders who assist in the running of the Street Fair receive a discount on their pitch costs. Helpers who lend their assistance, time or skills can nominate to whom donations are made, drawn from the funds that the fair continues to generate and the Trust — after due deliberation — distributes.  If you would like to take part, then please get in touch.

Much hard work goes into organising and running this wonderful event, year after year: some methods tried and tested; some new and innovative.  Balance is always the aim: to attract and entertain; yet to generate and gain.  A formula that The Milverton Trust always strives towards: an ethos that countless members and elders of the village have handed down over many years of unstinting hard work.
